As per the statistics released by the ministry of tourism, the Maldives has welcomed over 1.21 million visitors, with a total of 1,214,544 tourists visiting the Maldives as of October 5, 2022. Compared with the same period in 2021 that observed an inflow of 878,317 tourists there has been an annual increment of 38.3 percent. However, with the total arrival of 1,270,330 visitor’s pre-pandemic the annual increment is lower by 4.4 percent.
With an average stay of 8.1 days, the daily arrival average in annual terms at 4,369. India stands at the top of the source market for the Maldives with an arrival count of 172,911 tourists, followed by Russia with 146,806 and UK with 133,280 visitors at 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Currently, there are 1182 tourist establishments that are active in the Maldives, out of a total of 1191 establishments.
This feat has been made possible due to the tireless efforts of the ministry and private tourist organizations like the MMPRC. The year 2022 marks the Golden Jubilee of the Maldives in the tourism industry, celebrating this achievement no stone has been left unturned by the MMPRC to achieve the targets set by the Ministry for the Country by conducting over 260 different marketing activities to showcase the Maldives as the World’s leading travel Destination.
